  2. Education and Salary • Candidates should be a graduate with first division in any field of fashion. Post Graduates candidate's with honors is preferable. Additional qualification in terms of management is highly appreciable. $40,000 to $100,000. • Fashion Coordinators for smaller companies may receive between $40,000 to $60,000 • Fashion Coordinators for larger companies receive up to $100,000+

Duties ■The fashion director has the prime responsibility to make sure weather the work of photographer is expressing the magazine’s fashion ideas or not. ■He or she has the duty to create a unified and a different look across all fashion divisions of a store, fashion house or magazine. ■It will be the duty to regularly follow the industry publications. ■He or she has to understand the latest industry needs by interacting with the designers. ■He or she needs to work for the implementation of the latest trends and promoting them as well. ■The fashion director needs to guide the retail salespeople for making recommendations to customers and readers. ■He or she needs to work as a consultant as well to indirectly advise the buyers in making inventory purchases. ■There are a number of tasks which a fashion director has to fulfill such as the photo shoot concept, decides models who would be suitable for this particular shoot, choose a photographer, the location and of course, the clothing etc… ■He or she has the responsibility to work for the production of any project. ■It is needed to fulfill the tasks being a combination of the fashion consultant and manager.

  4. Abilities and Quality • Education – a minimum of a 4-yr bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or Fashion Merchandising is required. • Experience – Extensive experience in the Fashion industry • Personal Characteristics/Skills – Knowledge and understanding of fashion trends; in-depth understanding of consumer behavior; great networking skills; excellent understanding of fashion (e.g. fabrics, colors, styles, cuts, etc.); great organizational skills; excellent communication and presentation skills.

  5. Availability and Location The fashion director needs to fulfill a very vital and responsible job. He or she needs to work as a combination of a producer, director and an advisor. The person needs to ensure about the best ting for the shoot or any project. The job is very much similar to a fashion coordinator. He or she has to interact with the magazine editor, photographer and models, This Is a full time job. It takes years for someone to be able to get this position and when they do it’s a busy job.
