1) Do Your Homework on the Company • Review the company research you have already completed • Research most current information • Personal contacts (within the firm) • General indexes for periodicals & newspapers • Business Periodicals Index, Wall Street Journal Index • Readers’ Guide to Periodicals, New York Times Index • Local newspapers • Company’s Web site **
2) Practice Answering Tough Questions • Write out the answers to possible questions • Take notes on those answers • Practice answering • (see the other PPT)
3) Do Mock Interviews • Role-play with a friend or colleague • Give her/him questions list • For improvisation • Give her/him background info on the company • Review afterward regarding • Tough questions • Problematic mannerisms • Videotape the session to watch & critique yourself
4) Physically Prepare for the Interview • Get a “good night’s sleep” the night before • Avoid caffeine & other stimulants • Eat about an hour beforehand • energy • so you are not distracted by hunger • Dispel nervous energy • Take a brisk walk • Use the steps instead of the elevator • Stretch
5) Consult your Job Portfolio • Consult the following items from your JP: • Salary research • Temperament Report • Laws & Regulations • Five-Year Plan • Interview of a professional • Bring your JP up to date, if necessary
