The artisans involeved in the video shooting, were: • a potter of “Bochaleri” school • a oars and “forcola” maker • a “gondola” maker • a sculptor
Videos are: Are silent and without subtitles It aims to show different kind of craftsmanship as a symbol of training discussion It will be used as Case Study
The artisan heritage • Years ago the craftsmanship was handed down from the father to the son, it was a job very widespread and it was compared to production line. • Now the craftsmanship is divided in two main models: • “neighborhood job” that it won’t be automate (carpenter, plumper, electrician, blacksmith, etc.) • works that produce object which value it based on aesthetic not as useful means.
example: Venetianlanternmadebyblownglass: aestheticvalue and heritagerestoration Industrial ceiling light: valueofuse
Family traditions in craftsmanship sector • Years ago the job was handed down from the father to the son. • Children learnt tricks of the trade from fathers, in this way they could: • develop a value system and priority shared with family and local community, • develop the base of operational capacity, • develop their self-esteem in a protect environment.
At these days… Aged artisan: Didn’t have new skill that it will be necessary to improve their activity: languages, information technology, e-commerce, marketing, etc. They deepened their experience in a way that it doesn’t exist anymore. Young: Doesn’t have a direct experiences in job that required integration of cognitive ability, manual and soft skills
Intergenerational meeting • These difficulties will be overcame through training programmes for new “apprentice” (young with high level of education), based on: • enhanced learning, • with the support of professional trainers as intermediary between artisan and apprentice; • formal evaluation during the training; • training session will foresee also an education on business strategy for SMEs committed on aesthetic and heritage value. • It will be, also, important to sustain the development of programmes to support start-up on this sector.
Aged Capability • The involvement of aged artisan as tutor for young apprentice is useful to: • Favour the meeting of emerging ideas, crossing the progressive professional and social ostracism of aged people, • Increase the value of aged expertise and his historical memory of objects and their traditions, • Recognize the public role and their economic and cultural value.
Young employment • Intergenerational meeting, based on qualified artisan work, favours employment of younger because: • favours entrepreneurial attitude, • let’s enter younger in niche market, • let’s the development of skills that are required in big-sized enterprises as joint-profile between cognitive-work and manual’s one as: designer, pattern maker, prototype developers, maintenance, etc.
