Transition Words • Different Types of Transitions: • Sequential Order: first, during, before, second, then, at the beginning, at the same time, afterwards, soon, next, finally, subsequently, last, already, later. • Order of Importance: first, second, best, worst, main, most important, least important • Cause and Effect: because, therefore, as a result, so, for, thus, since.
Transition Words • Different Types of Transitions: • Spatial Order: above, behind, near, to the right, past, in front of, beneath, to • Comparison and Contrast: but, however, unlike, in contrast, yet, although, even though, similarly, even though, like, both, each. • Matters of Degree: furthermore, ideally, upmost, in addition, definitely, ultimately, moreover, even more, more so
Personal Pronouns • Personal pronouns to avoid: I, me, my, mine, you • Personal pronouns okay to use: he, him, she, her, it
