Groups of Park View

1. Groups of Park View • Ballers • Smokers • Jocks • Ping Pong Players • Stairway Groups • Workout Club • Preps • Rednecks • South Hallway Group

2. Group # 1 – Ballers • The people who get to say and do the most things are the established ones, or the ones with a loud personality. Grade 12’s have priority for the most part • The people who feel the most confident in this area are those who play on ball teams or have an athletic background. • There is an unwritten rule that the grade 10’s must shoot at the far end of the gym; the rim closest to the entrance is for the division 1 members, and perhaps a few JV players.

3. Group #2 - Smokers • They are affected tremendously by patterns. These people count of going somewhere to light up and smoke their cigarettes everyday. If you were to tell these people that they were not allowed to leave school property (even during lunch, frees) for a whole week they would not deal with it very well. • The subject of discussion is mostly of past parties, telling jokes and just hanging out while smoking. If you’re part of the anti-smoking group, you would feel a vast amount of hate towards you in this group. They are very opinionated on those matters.

4. Group #3 – Ping Pong Players • There is some unique sayings used in this culture. A few sayings are “that’s greasy,” referring to a lucky shot. Another one would be “Chinese or regular?” which means what way do you want to play for first serve. • Those who are invisible in this group are those who aren’t playing. The action gets pretty intense thus the attention is on the two players playing at the table. The sex that is the prominent one would be the males. Very rarely is a girl in this group.

5. Group #4 - Rednecks • Those who don’t have a mechanical background may feel lost in these groups as the discussion topics and activities are based around off-road vehicles. • The atmosphere in this group has an excitement to it. The discussions have a lively hood to them as well as actually doing the activities. • Some slang that exists in this group would be “giver nuts,” which means to go fast. Another one would be “BRAAP,” which means the sound of the engine.

6. Group # 5 – Cafeteria Jocks • The stage in the cafeteria is occupied by the athletes on the basketball and hockey teams for the most part. • The people who would not fit in with this group those who are not athletes or have no interest in sports as the conversation is dominated by sport-related subjects. • The dressing pattern is a little different here as well. It’s not rare to see people dress up in suits and fancy cloths on a regular basis. Everyone is usually wearing name-brand cloths and shoes.

7. Group # 6 – Stairway Groups • The atmosphere is very laid back. The people laugh and tell their stories to one another. A lot of jokingly name- calling goes on, but it seems to be all in good nature. • The females, for the time I observed, were the ones who did most of the talking. The males were not lost in the conversation, but it was apparent that the girls talked more. • The clothing style was different than most. They weren’t Wearing brand-name cloths or shoes, which is rare in This day and age of brand-names like Abercrombie & Fitch, Nike, Adidas and so on.

8. Group #7 – Workout Club • The males get to say and do the most in this place. it seems like a place where the guy who can lift the biggest weights are the ones who get to say and do the most within the gym. Conversely, the ones who do not lift the big weights are the invisible ones. • The free-weight section is usually occupied by the males and heavy lifters while the machines, for the most part, are where the (few) woman do their thing. • Some common lingo would be “spotter,” meaning A person to assist you while lifting big weights. “Sets” mean how many times you do a certain exercise. • The atmosphere is very relaxed and calm.

9. Group #8 - Preps • The smarter ones get to say and do the most in these groups. The discussion is mainly on topics that need answers, conversely, those with answers talk the most. • The individuals in these groups are greatly affected by the culture because It dictates what kind of clothing they were, how they talk to one another, their study habits and so forth. These people are pretty unique in the way they study for a test or an exam. • You rarely here them call each other names. It’s very common in other groups, And they do so jokingly, but for some reason this group refrains from using derogatory language towards one another.

10. Group #9 – Hallway Clan It’s really the same type of group that the Stairway group is. There is a mixture of girls and boys. They are very talkative, with the girls being the more profound talkers. It’s a very up-beat place with lots of jokes, stories and so on being told.
