  2. TitleandGender Title – The Boy in StripedPyjamas Gender – Historicalfiction

  3. Author • John Boyne – He was born on the 30th April 1971 in Ireland. He started to write when he was 19 and published his first book ten years later. He wrote this book in 2004. It was considered one of the best books ever written and has been sold in many countries.

  4. Action and main characters • Main characters - Bruno and Shmuel. • Main actions – the meetings and dialogues between Shmuel and Bruno near the fence of the concentration camp

  5. Book excerpt: • “Bruno apercebeu-se de que ainda estava a apertar na sua mão de Shmuel e que nada neste mundo conseguiria convencê-lo a largá-la.” (pág. 174 ) / “Bruno realized that he was still holding Shmuel’s hand and that nothing in this world would make him drop it.” • I chose this excerpt because it talks about the friendship between the two boys. At the end it became stronger than ever before, although they didn’t realize the dangers they were facing.

  6. Why did I choose this book? • I chose it because I like to learn about Germany, Nazism and the Second World War. This tragedy should never happen again.

  7. I hope I convinced those who haven’t read this book to do so. Rodrigo , class 8A
