  1. How has my PLN grown? Multimedia Reflection By: Marie Capper September 22, 2012 Who do I choose to follow on Twitter, and why? What will I use my PLN for?

  2. My Start at Becoming a Digital Citizen:

  3. George Couros @gcouros I chose to follow George Couros because he has a lot of experience in the field of education. George Couros is the principal of the Parkland Division and as a principal he also decides who to hire. With that being said, George Couros may offer very helpful advice or suggestions for me to adjust my teaching methods or even how I should go about getting a teaching job in the future.

  4. I have chosen to follow World Vision because it is an organization that is close to my heart. I have been sponsoring a child through World Vision since April 2012 and this year I was given the option to send money for his upcoming birthday. World Vision throws a community birthday party for that child and I think it is so cool, sponsor children get to experience their very first birthday party! This will help in my role as an educator because it helps inform me on issues happening around the world in “3rd-World” Countries and even developing countries. I could potentially use some of World Vision’s information as a current event topic to broaden the view of kids I may be working with. Following World Vision will show people who look up my digital information that I am engaged in activities outside of being a student. This creates a more dynamic profile for when future employers are looking at my resumes and online profiles.

  5. Kim Peacock and Carol Tonhauser are also two people I have chosen to follow. They are really fun instructors that have varying backgrounds in education – but none the less a wide experience of teaching in the educational field. Both of these ladies have interesting things to share with the class and I trust that they will be using Twitter to share these ideas with their social network. They will be excellent, reliable sources for information and advice when I near my teaching career, and they will also be helpful to have as technology changes and we may need a little bit of help in that field .

  6. Here is another screenshot of my PLN to demonstrate growth. Although it is little it is in progress!

  7. To Demonstrate My Contributions Within My PLN:

  8. In Conclusion How I Plan to Use Twitter Twitter is something I have not tried before; however, since trying Twitter I have become to love it! I have already seen so many interesting articles and other resources and it has only been a week! I am really looking forward to expanding my PLN and using it wisely to help encourage this “life-long learning”. By making the connections with educators and organizations I have become more aware of the career I will be entering in a few years. I plan to use Twitter for a professional, educational approach to learning and plan on continuing to use it throughout my career. Twitter will be a great resource to have in terms of advice and connections when I need ideas or suggestions.
