Vision, Mission & Objectives Heinz College Alumni Association Board Vision Our vision is to lead and represent alumni in order to sustain and strengthen lifelong relationships between alumni and Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University. Mission Our mission is to lead the Heinz College Alumni Association’s effort to maintain an enriching relationship for the purposes of collaboration, support, advancement of the name and reputation of Heinz College and its alumni. Strategic Objectives The HCAAB seeks to lead the Heinz College Alumni Association’s efforts in support of its vision and mission through the following activities: The facilitation of communication among alumni, students, faculty, staff and administration The provision of ongoing financial support for Heinz College The promotion of employment, mentorship, networking and internship opportunities for alumni and students of Heinz College The provision of feedback from alumni to Heinz College regarding the policies and programs of the College The preservation and promotion of Heinz College's legacy of diversity The promotion of the name and programs of Heinz College
Current HCAAB Projects LinkedIn Social Media Initiative Seeks to connect the Heinz community of over 9,700 alumni that live in the United States and around the globe through the use of social media (i.e. LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and etc.). Internship Opportunity Fund Assists the Internship Opportunity Fund (IOF) Student Committee in its efforts to conduct alumni fundraising activities. The IOF provides financial assistance to students who accept un-paid or low paying summer internships. Alumni Awards Program The Heinz College Alumni Association Award program honors alumni for their achievements and service. Alumni Engagement Program The Domestic Alumni Engagement program is designed to build a Heinz College alumni volunteer organization to conduct alumni outreach and engagement efforts for alumni in regions all over the United States. Domestic Pilot - Pittsburgh, DC, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles & Chicago Goal: Recruit 22 Volunteers to serve as members of local Carnegie Mellon Chapters The International Alumni Engagement Program is designed to build a Heinz College alumni volunteer organization that to conduct alumni outreach and engagement efforts for alumni all over the world. International Pilot - Mexico & Australia Goal: Establish / Connect with Alumni Groups in locations where Heinz College operates programs.

AAB Member Responsibilities Heinz College Alumni Association Board Agreement Members are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the Alumni Association, the Heinz College and Carnegie Mellon University by: • Knowing and embracing the University’s, College’s, and Association’s mission, goals, policies, programs, services, strengths and needs and work to increase the visibility and vitality of the Association. • Making an annual gift in support of the Heinz College's funding priorities. Members will provide leadership and set an example for fellow alumni by increasing giving among alumni and friends of the College. This may include, but not limited to hosting events, helping to secure corporate gifts from employers, assisting members of Heinz College Development staff on fundraising initiatives including mass mailing programs. • Attending and participating in two Board meetings held during the Fall and Spring school semesters as well as monthly conference calls and reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to the meetings. • Serving on one or more Alumni Association Board committees or project teams and attending major University and Alumni Association functions in their geographical area. • Assisting the Alumni Relations staff to ensure effective organizational planning and execution. Board members must actively participate in an overall planning process and assist in monitoring and evaluating their effectiveness in meeting the organization’s mission. • Identifying and cultivating alumni who can make significant contributions to the work of the Board and the Alumni Association.
