The Texas Disclosure and Compensation Study: Best Practices for Improving Safety • Little is known about incorporating disclosure programs into quality improvement efforts, and involving injured patients and families in the process of analyzing events. • In 2009 and 2010 The University of Texas System began an effort to educate and train caregivers about disclosure. • This project, supported by AHRQ and conducted within the University of Texas Health System, will seek to establish best practices for disclosure, early compensation, and quality feedback. • It will utilize existing and new data from six UT health campuses, along with results of surveys, interviews, and workshops to evaluate the effects of existing and recommended approaches.
