Facts • Time span: 01/10/2006 – 30/06/2008 • Sponsorship: Chemnitz University of Technology • Funding: about 450.000 €, co-financed through 75 % of financial means of the Interreg III A and 25 % of equity ratio by the TU Chemnitz • locations: Chemnitz, mainly Euroregions Erzgebirge and Egrensis

Aims of the project • preparation and realisation of activities at the interface between university, economy and society • development and expansion of a long-term cooperation between the TUC and members of the economic and social sectors with regard to cross-cultural collaboration • interdisciplinary procedures • practically orientated activities

  6. Subprojects • Student Workshops • impart information on setting up a business • Saxon-Czech database of internships • excursions in the Saxon-Czech border area • ‘Alumni’ activities

  7. Student Workshops • 12 meetings: - 10 of it are workshops with ca. 50 participants, prelude- and final meetings • orientated to economic, social and human sciences • students of the TU Chemnitz, of other Saxon universities and of the Czech partner universities

Informationon how to set up a business • relation to professions desirable: knowledge und experiences concerning the setting up of a business • revive it in all subprojects • early acquaintance with the professional practise • indications for possible professions for scientists in the fields of human, social and economic sciences in the secondary and tertiary economic sector

  10. Saxon-Czech database of internships • transfer for Saxon and Czech students of the TU Chemnitz • internship in an extramural environment • in Saxony and in the Czech Republic • improving the chances for later employment contracts • establishment of a database

  11. Excursions in the Saxon-Czech border area • aim: exploration of the Saxon-Czech border area • visit of diverse regions, commercial enterprises, institutions

  12. Alumni activities aims: • tying former Czech TU Chemnitz students to the university • recruiting further (guest-, exchange-) students from the Czech Republic • gaining internships • exchange of experiences, even concerning the setting up of a business

Prerequisites for a successful project • cooperation between all concerned partners, esp. the willingness of the Czech universities to support financially and to plan/realise meetings and events in common • tolerating bureaucratic requirements • generating ideas and suggestions as far as possible
