Technology: Eligibility for Entry Level Science Apprentice Student identity Databases Badge display • Need to develop student dashboard • Student identity of research info posting and file uploads needs to be automatic. • Student identity secure and continuity for students with multiple rounds of participation. • Automatic query of pre-/post-tests, project data, uploaded files for each student. • Database of online poster presentations. • Database of badge holders to trigger invitation to next level. • Students need capacity to view performance (e.g., number of comments made to mentor and to other teams; individual student contributions to research information, journal, pre-/post-tests) • Display badge eligibility on student dashboard for student to submit information for badge and to retrieve badge • Display individual student badges on team page. • Display team badge for the investigation on team page. • Associate online presentation badge with student and team badges. Badge criteria: active participation in science community

Technology: Eligibility for Advanced Level Science Practitioner Student identity Databases Badge display • Individual student registration • Initial on student background, interests, and experience through surveys, quizzes, etc. • Need database of student information. • Matching system for students of like interests with other students and mentor. • Criteria to be determined. • Display badge eligibility on student dashboard for student to submit information for badge and to retrieve badge • Display individual student badges on team page. • Display team badge for the investigation on team page. • Associate online presentation badge with student and team badges. Badge criteria: content knowledge, inquiry skills, active participation in science community

Teacher Badges / Mentor Badges • Incentives and rewards for being teacher or mentor leader, e.g., participating in webinars or other pd, curriculum development, etc. • Incentives and rewards for exceptional co-mentoring with scientists / or teachers , e.g., using class discussion • PlantingScience Ambassador badges, acknowledgement of participation at specified levels, e.g., 5 sessions, 10 sessions,etc.
