Entry Level Driving Proficiencies • Select the proper gear • Tracking – keeping your vehicle on an intended path of travel in a straight line • In a straight line • On a curve • Out of a curve • Steering • Hand over hand • Push pull • Pulling to the curb • Leaving the vehicle safely • All of the above items are considered level one proficiencies.

Safety Tips • Make eye contact at intersections and other interaction situations • Park in spaces east to get out of • No loose articles in passenger compartments • Let things lie • When in doubt, go straight • Dim headlights when approaching or meeting vehicles
Safety Tips • In a skid don’t forget to continue steering throughout the skid • Drive slower in inclement weather • Never assume you have the right of way • Avoid stopping on the side of the road whenever possible • Remember that highways are the most slippery just after it starts raining
