KY Community & Technical College System The mission of KCTCS is to improve the employability and quality of life of Kentucky citizens as the primary provider of: • College and Workforce Readiness • Transfer Education • Workforce Education and Training KCTCS Offers: • More than 600 credit program options • Stackable certificates and diplomas that are embedded in Associate degrees • Dual credit agreements with secondary schools • Transfer agreements with four year institutions
Kentucky’s Career Pathway Work • 2002: KCTCS participates in Ford Foundation’s “Community College Bridges to Opportunity Initiative” • October 2003: KCTCS embraced the Career Pathway model as a strategy for achieving integration between remedial, workforce and academic missions for disadvantaged students. • 2004: Continued work with Ford Foundation to support career pathway initiatives • 2006: KCTCS funded the implementation of career pathway projects at all 16 colleges • Career pathways is now institutionalized

Future uses for aqcp • Highlighted the need for us to document how far we have come • Standardized benchmarks –integrating AQCP framework will help us make better informed decisions regarding career pathways • Exploration of standardized pathway maps • Introduce students to the value of education and career pathways • Including credit for prior learning • Align to state and local sector strategies • Pilot through “Raise the Floor” of the Manufacturing program at Gateway Community & Technical College
