  3. Naukuchiatal is a small hill station in Nainital district of the Indian state of UttarakhandThe lake is 175 feet deep and is situated at 1220 mts above sea level. It is surrounded by hills covered in trees and shrubs. It is the deepest of all the lakes in the Nainital region. Length of lake is 983 mts., breadth is 693 mts & depth 40.3 mts. It is within an enchanting valley offering an opportunity of angling and bird watching. There is ample scope for rowing, paddling or yachting. The lake is fed by an underground perennial spring. From the hills of surrounded mounts nature lovers watch the Para gliders having fun and adventure. Trekking jungle camping and safe climbing attracts tourist from all around. Naukuchiatal is also famous for the 'escape festival' which happens once every year (in the month of may). situated 4 km from Bhimtal, and 26 km from Nainital, 320 km from Delhi. Nearest railway station is Kathgodam. Temperatures range from, Summer: 11 C-26 C Winter: -2C-14 C

NAUKUCHIATAL The Mythology The Mythology It is believed that Naukuchiatal lake was created after hard worship of Lord Brahma and a small temple dedicated to Brahmadev exist near the KMVN guesthouse. According to locals anyone who performs a parikarma of the lake will be blessed by Lord Brahma. Hanuman Temple Hanuman Temple is situated on the main road to Naukuchiatal. It has a 52 feet high statue of Lord Hanuman Beautiful scenery of high mountains and valley add glory to the holy figure. The Temple has an artificial cave design on lines of the famous Vaishno Devi Shrine, which encircles the temple and leads to various sections - at the feet of the Statue of Lord Hanuman, three temples in the main premises, the resting/staying place for devotees, the meditation room, RamDarbar temple, and the Shani Temple.

The Tour Almost as soon as you leave the plains at Kathgodam, the sudden cool air that breezes in through your car window brings wind of the paradise that awaits you in the midst of the mountains. Within a short while of your first sighting of the hills, you arrive in Naukuchiatal, among the loveliest of the lakes in Kumaon’s Lake District, a beautiful blue expanse of water cradled in a bowl of terraced, green hills. Local legend has it that anyone who can sight the nine corners of Nau-kuchia-tal all at once will find their way to heaven. Given the sheer size of the tal, fat chance anyone can do it, but on your walks over the hills that cradle the lake, it’s worth trying it for a lark. In any case, this azure blue crystal of a lake, set amid gorgeous oak and pine forests, makes it easy to make-believe you’re in heaven on earth. And, if you’re lucky enough to be here at the right time, a glimpse of the full moon reflected in the shimmering tal is in itself a sip of nirvana. The road ends at Naukuchiatal. Though its cousins Bhimtal and Sattal are just a short drive away, you may find you never want to leave Naukuchia’s verdant acres. Lose yourself in a boat on the waters of the lake, where no one, except perhaps your boatman, can reach you. Walk aimlessly through the deep woods. Tune your ears to bird calls.
