Housing • Why are we looking at this? • What do we have? • Who do we want it for? • What are we working on at the moment?
Why are we looking at this? • Make sure people with learning disabilities have good places to live
What do we have? • About 800 rooms in residential homes • About 1000 places as supported living homes • About 150 rooms or places not filled • 73 properties are owned by HCC (21 care homes, 52 supported living)
Who do we want it for? • Looking at each district in Hertfordshire • Who lives there – age, gender, the future? • What they need and want?
What we are working on at the moment? • No new residential homes • More supported living accommodation • Changing residential homes to supported living
What we are working on at the moment? • Working with local councils and landlords • Reviewing all HCC owned properties – are they fit for purpose? • Improving systems and communications – vacancy database
What we are working on at the moment? • Looking at providing good, easy to understand information about housing choices • Have set up Housing group to drive forward this work
What we are working on at the moment? • Reviewing accommodation based short breaks services • Developing new services – accommodation based enablement service • Developing links with service users and carers throughout commissioning cycle
