McKinney’s 10 Rules of Technical Writing • Know your assignment. • Plan out your “story.” • Tell the story with pictures (or figures…or tables) and then write text around them. • Know how to create and properly use good graphics. • Never be afraid to insult your audience’s intelligence. ELEC 106
McKinney’s 10 Rules of Technical Writing • Use only as many words as you need. • Always use proper grammar and spelling. • Don’t start writing at the very last minute. • Take yourself out of the writing. • Never, ever put something in writing that you aren’t absolutely positive is correct.
