Abstract • This slide deck presents selection procedure for the development of IEEE 802.11ay draft amendment. This slide deck is prepared based on the following reference: • 11-09-0059-07-00ac-802-11ac-proposed-selection-procedure • 11-14-0938-04-00ax-802-11ax-selection-procedure Edward Au (Marvell Semiconductor)
Procedure in leading to the draft amendment Channel model Evaluation methodology Usage model Functional requirements Specification framework Draft amendment Edward Au (Marvell Semiconductor)
Usage model document • The Task Group (TG) shall create a usage model document. • Lead for the usage model document is responsible for maintaining the document: • Any change in technical content (e.g., addition/removal of a particular use case) requires at least 75% TG approval rate. Edward Au (Marvell Semiconductor)
Channel model, Evaluation methodology, Functional requirement documents • The TG shall create a channel model/evaluation methodology/functional requirement document. • Lead for the document is responsible for maintaining the document: • Procedure in incorporating a proposal into the document: • Any change in technical content requires at least 75% TG approval rate. Proposal presentation Proposal text submission Motion with at least 75% TG approval rate Edward Au (Marvell Semiconductor)
Specification framework document • The TG shall create a specification framework document that outlines the main functional blocks of the IEEE 802.11ay draft specification. • Editor is responsible for maintaining the document: • Contributions that describe different functional blocks with the intention to be included in the TG specification framework document are solicited. • Specification framework document shall be created by incorporating different functional blocks that the corresponding motions have been approved by at least 75% TG approval rate. • Straw polls will be conducted first to gauge the interest of the TG. • Only straw polls that achieve at least 75% approval rate will be converted to motions • Any change in the document requires at least 75% TG approval rate. Edward Au (Marvell Semiconductor)
IEEE 802.11ay draft amendment • The draft amendment will be created by the TG Editor when the specification framework document is reasonably complete. • Draft amendment text will be contributed by the owners of the different functional blocks. • The draft amendment shall include all the functional blocks identified in the specification framework document. • The draft amendment requires at least 75% TG approval. Edward Au (Marvell Semiconductor)
Remarks • The Task Group may change the selection procedure with an over-75% approval vote. Edward Au (Marvell Semiconductor)
