GHS and Safety The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is aware of the federal “Globally Harmonized System for Hazardous Communication” that will become effective later this year, but we do not anticipate any major conflicts with our current Hazard Communication regulations for the public (government) workplace. Any new labeling and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) requirements, now called Safety Data Sheet (SDS), will need to be down-streamed to the worker training now given to the employees and as new SDS’s are received from the manufacturer or distributor of hazardous chemicals, these SDS’s should replace the current MSDS’s on file.
