CernVM Users Meeting News, Announcements, Release status • Patch release 1.01 is now available for download • http://cernvm.cern.ch/cernvm/index.cgi?page=Release1.01 • Fixes based on your feedback • Added option (-o cachedir) to cvmfs to specify an alternative location for cache files (default is /var/cache/cvmfs)‏ • Removed conaryProxy directive from /etc/conary/config.d/cernvm. This will hopefully solve problem of timeouts during updates. • Removing conaryProxy and replacing HTTP_PROXY with CVMFS_HTTP_PROXY fixes problem arising when outgoing network HTTP traffic must go via ordinary site proxy (not CVMFS proxy). • Fixed kernels in Parallels (has to be non-PAE) and Xen DomU images (need PAE and non-PAE kernels). They were mistakenly swapped in 1.00 release.

CernVM Users Meeting Xauth issue • We used to have xauth tool (allows to forward X display using ssh -X) as an independent package in group-cernvm • Unfortunately, it conflicts with the same package bundled in xorg-x11 (in group-cernvm-desktop)‏ • Decided to drop xauth and add xorg-x11 to group-cernvm • 25% larger initial image • Less to download during initial migration to desktop group

  4. CernVM Users Meeting New feature • Added AMI (Amazon EC2) kernel and modules to Xen DomU image. AMI x86 (ami-a16a8ec8) and x86_64 (ami-936a8efa) images are provided. • These images are pre-loaded on Amazon S3 and publicly accessibe • You only need a credit card... • Price: $0.10/hour • Please note that you will need to specify Amazon kernel image (aki-9b00e5f2 in case of x86) that matches the kernel modules loaded into this VM. • For more details see • http://developer.amazonwebservices.com/connect/entry.jspa?externalID=1345
