For planning • No funding currently available => we cannot promise to participate in the project • Minor participation 2010 (proposal writing, planning, etc. ) • If funding from 2011, participation possible in the intensive field periods
Instruments • DMT CCN counter • SMPS (or DMPS) • For measurements of dry aerosol number size distributions • Home built (to be built) • Planned range: • ~ 3-850 nm (twin), or • ~ 15-850 nm (single) • Planned time resolution: • ~ 5 min
Inlets • Whole air inlet • For usein-cloud • For sampling of bothclouddroplets and interstitialparticles • With dryer • Interstitialinlet • For usein-cloud • For sampling of cloudinterstitalparticles • With dryer
Idea • Use the CCN counter to measure in-cloud effective supersaturation (S) • Connect the CCNC after the interstitial inlet • Scan in S (by scanning the flow; Moore and Nenes, 2009) • At instrument S lower than the ambient S, no CCNs are counted • When the CCNC starts to count particles, the ambient S has been reached • The method will be tested 2010

Instrument • Droplet Aerosol Analyser (DAA)
Droplet Aerosol Analyser (DAA) • Measures • Number size distribution of ambient cloud/fog droplets and interstitial particles at ambient conditions • Number size distribution of dry residual particles • The relation between ambient diameter and dry (residual) diameter on a single droplet/particle basis • 3-dimensional data set
