Vehicle Repair of passenger and recreational vehicles, motorcycles, light and medium trucks - may include vehicle sales Surface Passenger Services – includes charter and rental bus services, taxi and limousine dispatch Commercial zones only NOT permitted in Industrial or Residential zones Includes engine repair, auto body repair, transmission and muffler services, vehicle upholstery, alignment, detailing, and tire sales and mounting Commercial and Residential zones Fleet storage only in commercial zones In residential areas, only one vehicle per driver may be parked on private property or on the street PERMIT REQUIRED

Vehicle Repair Vehicles for Hire • Each driver must have a business license authorized by the City Clerk NON-Transferrable • Licenses are from 1 June to 31 May • Application deadline 1 May • Each driver must have a picture identification card • Each taxicab is subject to an annual inspection • Each taxicab must have a decal NON-Transferrable • Each driver must be insured New or expanded vehicle repair requires a building permit. Vehicle sales requires permission from Iowa Department of Transportation, and a letter from zoning official.

Food and Beverage • Restaurants • Commercial Zones only • If change in use or expansion, building permit required • If change in food preparation, commercial hood may be required • Johnson County Health Department • Grocery Stores • Commercial Zones only • If change in use or expansion, building permit required • Johnsons County Health Department • Best Option • Find an existing vacant space that used to be a restaurant, or an existing vacant space that used to be retail

Food and Beverage • Food Trucks • Seasonal or year-round • Any type of food but no alcohol • Entirely self-contained (no outside source of power) • Permit period 1 January to 31 December • $1,000 fee for entire year • Application at Building Inspection Services • Johnson County Health permit annual fee $27 • Certificate of insurance • Locations are restricted: not within 150 feet of a restaurant in a building or in residential zones

Bed and Breakfast • Homestay • No more than 3 bedrooms provided to guests • Maximum stay 14 days • Owner-occupied single-family dwelling • 2 additional off-street parking spaces • Permit required ($100 every 2 years plus one-time $40 fee) • Inn • Requires a Special Exception from the Board of Adjustment • No more than 5 bedrooms provided to guests • Maximum stay 14 days • 3 additional off-street parking spaces • Permit required ($100 every 2 years plus one-time $40 fee)
