Math Journal/spiral notebook and purple pen check… • Please Keep Math Books @ Home… Students will also have online access… • Student Choice: Binder vs Expando folder? • A journal/spiral notebook works best for math homework so that it can be kept together in order for easy access. (like a journal). Easier to study for assessments and district assessments. • We are using Purple pens for checking to help see the data (our action analysis) of items needing extra attention. What I don’t know yet and need to learn & know. Or I made a “Goofy Error” and need to be more careful…
Homework Grading: Most Homework given is for a completion grade of 3/3 points This is NOT an accuracy grade, but a completion grade to promote making the effort to do the Work and it is OK to make mistakes! The weekly Homework Quizzes are the ACCURACY grade for the homework given that week. If a child cannot complete their homework for any reason (family obligations, etc.), please sign your initials on the homework for excused or time extended. (Students have 3 tickets to use during the quarter for a “due next class extension”). No late grades will be given… State of Michigan and district math standards are vigorous and it will be essential for all students to stay on course and do work on time… I will accommodate number of problems, etc. as needed – please see my blog for details… Please encourage the use of the following resources if students are stuck during homework time!
