How the FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR STARTED The French and Indian War started because the British monarch King George the II claimed all of North America as part of England. But the French were already first settlers of the Great Lakes and Ohio, so the French thought THEY should own the land. This led to the French and Indian War.ch were fighting over who would get the Ohio River Valley.
The First battle Washington surprised the French with an attack on May 28, 1754. Then his troops went back to Great Meadows and built Fort Necessity there. This soon led to the French and Indian War.
Most Important Battles of the French and Indian War There were many important battles in the French and Indian War. One of the most important battles was at Fort Necessity because it was the location of the first battle of the French and Indian War. A few other important battles of the French and Indian War were at Louisburg because 5,000 French were captured, battle of Oswego, where 1,500 English soldiers surrendered and were killed, and the battle of Fort Frontenac.
