Follow Up Actions to ESPX-2 • Continue the “tradition” of the science policy exchange • Emphasize the intensive and also the extensive type of monitoring • Three uncertainties to address • Changes in river flow may constrain what fish can do • Invasive species - control or figure out how to live with them • Contaminants – how will they affect the physiological transition of the fish and other aspects of their life cycle
Follow Up Actions to ESPX - 3 • Intensively monitored watershed in emergent wetland? • Look at challenge of addressing estuary wide processes through the small scale projects • Look at simulation modeling and analysis for adaptive management methodology • Look into follow up at Biennial Estuary Conference • Advise Council on what its role should be in addressing emerging issues in Estuary and other areas • Keep momentum of coordinated efforts into our policy decisions • Have water quality directors come to Council to discuss how Council can further efforts to improve water quality
