Tech4Learning’s FRAMES & TWIST software Great way to introduce animation Simple Interface is kid-friendly Formatting flexibility Create and manipulate shapes with vector graphics Design original clipart for use in animation Tech Tools
Organize Your Project • Organize groups • Brainstorm for a story concept • Create a storyboard • Assign roles to team members i.e.: • Illustrators - • set design, • creating characters • creating props • Writers - create script, title cards • Technicians - oversee file formatting and sequencing
Organizing Your Project • Create backgrounds • Create clipart • Begin creating and exporting images for animation • Bring image files into animation software • Add title cards • Add transitions • Add voiceovers • Add music • Convert to movie format
Intro to Frames Learning basic shape animation: The Bouncing Ball
Add new frame Add shape Remove stroke Change fill Adjust size Copy shape Create new frame Turn on onion skin Paste shape in new frame Move shape and repeat Frame Building Sequence
Stop Motion Camera Shoot • Position background set (shoebox) • Put clay figures into first position • Set up tripod/camera • Focus on shot • Animator moves figure • Photographer takes the shot • Repeat last two steps until desired number of shots is taken
Creating Original Graphics Using "Twist" In the Computer Lab • Create background and export as a .gif file. • Create characters and props individually and export each as a .gif file with a transparent background.
Open background and drag and drop characters to "act" in your story, exporting your images with each change or movement. • Create a library of static images (.gif files) to bring into Frames for animation.
Working with Images Adding a series of photographs or images to Frames: • Upload photos from camera to computer • Keep images in a separate folder • Import folder to Frames • Do a quick “test” run through to delete or duplicate frames, and rearrange the frame sequence as necessary
Finishing Up • Add title cards and narrative cards • Add transitions • Add voiceovers, syncing to images • Add music from Frames library • Preview movie • Save file • Make movie (you can choose from a variety of formats) • Celebrate!
