Why use Technology to Promote Reading Books? • Promotes reading through a medium students are attracted to. • Gives students ownership of reading. • Increases awareness of books. • Allows students to create and interact with reading (social networking).

Why did I choose this topic? • Blends my love of reading with technology. • This technology will help pique students’ interest in reading. • Not all students are interested in reading, but nearly all students are interested in technology.

By choosing this topic, I am forcing myself to learn how to use technology. I will have to find the technology that will best promote reading and then learn how to implement it and train students on what to do. I believe this will, in time, make me more comfortable with technology. Even though I am not comfortable using technology, I do enjoy incorporating it into lessons. I also love reading and worry that students will eventually become so consumed with technology they will not be interested in reading books. By promoting books with technology, I will be solving my problems with technology and encouraging students to read.
