False Gossip • False gossip is worse than true gossip. The problem is. . . That the person who hears the gossip doesn’t know the difference!
We want to belong • We like to talk about other people • It can be a powerful weapon to hurt someone • Is it Always harmful?? When is it harmful?
Double edged-gossip • When it hurts the person who gossips as much as the target person • Example? • Negative gossip is double edged • People enjoy the not-so-nice aspects of others • Person gets to be the center of attention • False gossip always comes back to you
Teen Gossip can be like. . . • Dynamite!
How to handle it • Confront gossip quickly and directly • Use friends to support you (real friends) • Remember gossip goes stale fast • If a rumor is true, admit it! • Next time you are about to spread gossip, just remember. . .
