  2. 1890-1910 World War I was during this time. It was the fathers role to support the family and the mother was to do the housework. Children had to get jobs to help support the family. (Reimer & Willard, 2006) ("Bader School House, Boulder," 2011) (trivalleyblogs, 2011)

  3. 1920 Parents believed children needed strict schedules and discipline. More parents were involved in the PTA. A lot of racial tension was going on during this time. ("About Us: Bob Martinez," n.d.) ("Education," n.d.) ("History of Playgrounds," n.d.)

  4. 1930 The Great Depression. Dick and Jane books were popular. It was hard for schools to stay open. Many people listened to the radio and went to see movies. ("Our History," n.d.) ("1930-1939," n.d.) ("YORKVILLE: STOOPS to NUTS," 2012)

  5. 1940 World War II. College became available to more people. TV became public with 13 stations. Computers were also developed. Frozen dinners were popular since mothers were working and fathers were away at war.   7. 1960 Father and child involvement was the main focus. War on Poverty was formed. The first Head Start was opened. My grandparents, dad, and uncle

  8. 1970 Research showed early enriched environments helped with the child’s success in school. Floppy disks and the VCR were developed. Divorce rate was high.   9. 1980 Families were very stressed with finance issues, drugs, finding good child care, working many hours, etc. Teenage pregnancies were common. Higher salaries were offered. My father and I
