Entry to Stage 2 courses • Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) • BPS accredited MSc in Health Psychology (Stage 1) • Enhanced CRB check • Acceptable ‘work placement’ Paid employment or voluntary work l.dunwoody@ulster.ac.uk
QHP • Not linked to any University • Supervisor must be RAPPS registered • Work placement • Paid or voluntary • Work supervisor – not necessarily a HP • Need a Plan of Training (PoT) • Professional indemnity insurance • More than half of training must be in the UK l.dunwoody@ulster.ac.uk
Content of Stage 2 Training Irrespective of route, the 5 core competences are the same • Professional Generic • Behaviour Change • Research • Consultancy • Teaching and Training Minimum of 2 years supervised practice • 46 weeks, 5 days a week l.dunwoody@ulster.ac.uk
Behaviour Change Conduct behaviour change interventions • Design and implement baseline assessments • Evaluate patterns of behaviour and formulate working hypotheses about the target behaviour • Provide feedback formulation on outcome of the assessment • Design, plan and implement BCI • Evaluate and communicate outcomes l.dunwoody@ulster.ac.uk

Research 2. Empirical study (more ambitious than an MSc, but less ambitious that a doctoral thesis) • Design and conduct psychological research • Analyse and evaluate psychological research data • Initiate, develop and evaluate the impact of psychological research l.dunwoody@ulster.ac.uk
Assessment Research • Systematic Review (6000 words max) • Report of a major empirical study (15,000 word max) Both written to a standard acceptable for publication in a peer reviewed academic journal relevant to health psychology l.dunwoody@ulster.ac.uk
Consultancy • Assessment of requests for consultancy • Plan consultancy • Establish and maintain working relationships with clients • Conduct consultancy • Monitor the progress of consultancy and evaluate the impact of the consultancy l.dunwoody@ulster.ac.uk
