Chemical Reactions Design Project MS-PS1-6
MS-PS1-6 Undertake a design project to construct, test, and modify a device that either releases or absorbs thermal energy by chemical processes. * [Clarification Statement: Emphasis is on the design, controlling the transfer of energy to the environment, and modification of a device using factors such as type and concentration of a substance. Examples of designs could involve chemical reactions such as dissolving ammonium chloride or calcium chloride.] [Assessment Boundary: Assessment is limited to the criteria of amount, time, and temperature of substance in testing the device.] Standard being addressed

Scientific Drawing Guidelines • 1. Use a sharp No. 2 pencil. • 2. The size of the drawing should be as large as you can draw the object to include labels and a title. • 3. The lines used for labeling should point right at the object or part you are naming. (please no arrow heads) • 4. Use a ruler to draw the pointing line and use the same line for the name. • 5. Labels should be outside the object and parallel to the bottom of the page (HORIZONTAL) not written sideways or at an angle. • 6. The title and labels should be printed only. • 7. The title of the object in the space provided on the top of the page, use all capital letters. • 8. BE NEAT! There should be no noticeable erasure marks or smudges. • 9. Your drawing needs to have lots of details. • 10. You may carefully color your drawing with colored pencils if this helps make your drawing appear clearer. Drawing Guidelines sharp
