Timeline • February 2nd - 13th - Counselors in SS classes • February 2nd – March 2nd- Online registration • Mid-March – Course selections mailed home • March 31st– Last opportunity to make changes before summer • Late July – Schedules posted online • Early August – Last chance to request changes before school starts. • Students need to check their SCASD email!
Registration Considerations • What do you need to meet graduation requirements? • What do you need to meet college admission requirements? • How can you choose courses that will help you explore and/or develop your interests? • How can you keep a healthy balance in your life?
Minimum Graduation Requirements • 4 Credits Each Of English And Social Studies • 3 Credits Each Of Science And Math • Physical Education Each Year In High School – 1.8 credits • Health – 1 credit • In-Class Driver’s Education - .2 credits • Electives – at least 5.5 credits • Graduation Project • 20 Community Service Hours • Must Have A Total Of 22.5 Credits
Credits At the end of 11th grade, you should have: • 3 Credits of English • 3 Credits of Social Studies • 3 Credits of Science • 3 Credits of Math • 3 Courses of PE = 1.40 credits • 1 or 2 Courses of Health = .5 - 1 credit • In-class Driver’s education = .20 credits Total Credits 14.50 minimum to move to grade 12
College Admission Considerations • Colleges Have Different Requirements • World Language - at least 2 years of the same language • Math – do you need Trig or higher? • Science – any special requirements? • Fine Arts – some schools require a credit • Requirements For NCAA • Military Academies - Call Congressman Thompson’s office at 814-353-0218

Architectural Drafting and Design 4 • Information Technology Entrepreneurship • Security +/Ethical Hacking – now a year long course • Personal Training/Exercise Science/Sports Nutrition – 2 credit course – includes .5 credit PE and Health • Journalism 1 – will now be a semester course for .5 credits – can be repeated
ELECTIVES • Electives help you explore your interests and passions • Anything beyond the basic required courses is considered an elective (i.e – a 4th math credit) • Consider CTC courses, Art, Music, Family and Consumer Science, Technology Education
Special Opportunities for 12th Grade • Diversified Occupations Sign up for both Y690 (Class) and Co-op class (CWE) • Learning Enrichment - See Mrs. Rand or Mrs. Campbell Complete an Application by May 1
Transcripts • Make sure your transcript is accurate • Is your personal information correct? • Are all courses you have taken listed? • Are grades correct? • Is anything on twice? • Are courses that you dropped still listed? • If you repeated a failed course, has the E been removed? • If you find errors, let your counselor know!
