  1. Learning the art of delegating tasks and assignments. Introduction : We all have seen track relay sports. Sometimes we have even participated in it. Remember how 1 athlete passes on the barton to the other athlete while staying in the same lane? The process seems easy but the athlete running, has to try and push a little harder, to help the other athlete have a good head start. And once the other athlete takes the barton, they have to immediately get off the ground and race forward. In a way generating momentum, even before they start to run. Leadership Coaching In short, it seems pretty easy to simply pass a barton. But be it in the field or in work, passing a baton effectively to the right person, requires a lot of trust, coordination and communication. IMPORTANCE OF DELEGATION : Now in corporate structure and hierarchy, the reason why delegation becomes so crucial is because as a leader, 1 shouldnt do all the tasks themselves. They may have the quality of doing all those taks by

  2. themselves but a good leader is not what they can do individually. But what they can make of the team and how a leader helps them to grow. And delegating tasks and responsibilities is a crucial part of that. And also there’s a lesson involved for the leader as well, since it helps them in knowing which employee is best suited for that particular task or responsibility. In hindsight delegating tasks will display trust that a leader has in their employees. By assigning important duties which go a long way in building effective communication and assistance in professional development. As a leader, it teaches you to identify who is best suited to tackle a particular task or a project. Corporate Negotiations skill training Now even though delegation does sound like a simple thing to do for any leader, yet many fail to delegate it effectively. Through some pointers, let’s decode some of those reasons as to why they fail. They think delegating is just passing off work to someone else : Some leaders mistake delegating tasks as just passing off work to their employees like running basic errands. By doing this, they end up wasting their time as well as the company’s resources and their employees’ time as well. Delegation acts as a constructive way of managing workload, but more importantly it proves opportunity to learn and grow for employees. Delegation is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of a strong leader. They think they can do it better : Here a leader thinks that the task or duty will be performed better if they supervise it even after delegation, not showing enough faith and trust in the employees. Nervous about letting it go : Every leader before reaching such an important position was once an employee who embraced all the tasks and responsibility thrown upon them and accomplished it successfully. But then a time comes for such an achiever to realize and come to terms that they cannot do everything alone. Over the years, they built the reputation of “go to expert” which can no doubt be hard to let go off. But then as a good leader, you have to remind yourself, that just like you, even your employees and team are hungry to prove their potential. Selling skills training We went through some of the common causes as to why some leaders fail to delegate. So now lets understand a few tricks and tips on how leaders can effectively delegate once they overcome the above challenges. Choosing the right person for the job : As a good leader, 1 of the first aspects is to understand the employees not just strengths but also weaknesses and potential. Like if you are about to delegate a task that would require collaboration, so instead of handing it over to an employee who prefers to work alone or isn’t too good at team building, give it to the other person, who is strong in that aspect. Another effective way of delegating tasks is to let the team choose it themselves. This also helps majorly in building trust and self confidence among employees.

  3. Providing right instruction : Giving delegation also boils down on being a good delegator. Which means providing basic and important information without micromanaging. It’s important to understand that what matters is getting that task done, no matter which way they perform it. It may differ from how you would do it, but at the end of the day it’s the result that counts. Keep a track of work and provide feedback : Delegating tasks just doesn’t mean that you give a particular task to an employee, and then when something goes wrong they put the blame on their team. It’s important to check the work that was delegated to the employee, if it was performed correctly and provide feedback which can help them learn and improve.
