Automation Mission: • The NLS Automation Office ensures NLS has the IT resources they need to fulfill NLS’ mission.
Who is involved: • 11 Automation Office staff (4 open) • R&D officer back under Director of NLS • 3 Outside contracting firms 13 staff (4.5 FTE) • PICS, READS, BARD, Book Production Tools
What we do: • NLS Desktop Support/Troubleshooting • Manage/Build/Update NLS Data systems • Manage NLS IT contracts and contractors • Ensure NLS IT security/compliance • Acquire IT hardware/software for NLS • Work on special NLS IT projects • Interface with other Library of Congress IT organizations
Since the last conference • BARD – Braille support • Rsync deployed • PICS remote hosting • BARD mobile support • BARD local book support • Magazine on Cartridge & MOC tools
Since the last conference • CMLS/BPHICS redesign: PIMMS • READS redesign: WebREADS • Network database - redesign • First version of BARD API • Commercial audio books
