Habitat • Amphibians live in the water when young and on land when an adult but always near the water • Live in these areas swamps ,ponds ,lakes , rivers, and oceans.
Cold blooded • A amphibian is a cold blooded creature is a animal with no backbone.
Life cycle • The egg has stuff in the egg called embryo. • After the egg hatches it is a small tadpole like a fish. • The next thing is legs start to grow and its gills begin to shrink. • Finally the tadpole is no longer a tadpole it has grown up and looses its tail it turns in to a frog and the frog now breathes with gills.
How they breathe • They breath with gills when young and when adult they breath with lungs through their moist skin. to to
Body Covering • Amphibians have porous skin which means they have tiny holes and breath through the tiny holes. • Amphibians have slippery skin or body moist called mucus helps keep them safe and it protects the amphibians. • Instead frogs absorb water through there skin and absorb oxygen through there skin.
Reproduce • Amphibians lay lots of eggs at a time in water then eggs have no shells when born. • They are covered with jelly that protects them.
Other Interesting Facts • Most amphibians have webbed feet for swimming. • They also have large mouths so they swallow prey whole. • Camouflage helps the animal blend with the trees and their saroundings.
Special Body Parts • Their tongue is special because the catch there prey that way. • Their eyes is a special part because they can see forward ,backward ,sideways ,and they never close there eyes even when they go to sleep.
