  2. The Regional Health Administration of Alentejois a decentralized service of the Ministry of Health, whose scope of action is the Alentejo region and aims to coordinate and optimize the available resources to provide the necessary healthcare to its community

  3. Alentejo is characterized by being the largest region in Portugal and at the same time the region with the lowest population density • Area: 27,330 km² • Population: 501.747hab • Population density: 5,447hab/km²

  8. Investments carried out until the end of the QCA III Total Investments: EUR 97.575.384 FEDER: EUR 68.175.661 (Structural Fund of regional development) During QCA III Alentejo Coast Hospital has been built - total cost EUR 41.770.478

  9. Investment during the QREN Total Investments: EUR 46.604.452 FEDER: EUR 34.543.756 (Structural Fund of regional development) The investment in Alentejo Central is mainly due to the construction of 8 new health centers and various interventions for the provision of healthcare in hospitals

  10. Hospital services development: • Radiotherapy Unit • Interventional Cardiology • ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography)

Development and implementation of the project “telemedicine” in health centers, whose objective are : • Teleconferencing platforms for training and tele-consultations in theses specialties: • Dermatology • Physiatry • Cardiology • Orthopaedics • Urology For dermatology several dermatoscopes were obtained • General andpediatricssurgery • Pediatrics • Gastroenterology • Psychiatry

  12. Screening: • Cervix cancer • Breast cancer • Colorectal cancer • Diabetes retinopathy • Portable retinography device • Devices for making automatic appointments

  13. Development of the project “Early Intervention” for children from 0 to 6 years, with coverage throughout the region The Executive Board of the WHO has awarded a prize of the Foundation in the United Arab Emirates for the Health - 2010, to the ARS Alentejo

  14. Mobile units providing healthcare to the people who live far away from health centers and have problems with mobility

  15. Community funds have a very important role in Alentejo: • fighting against inequalities in health • promoting access to quality healthcare • promoting social cohesion
