Project Objectives improve the training/learning processin complex, technical domains • integrating information technology • real-time expert system, • case-based reasoning, • dynamic simulation • an innovative didactic framework (context sensitive adaptive course structure based on AI technology)
Project Objectives • Dynamically generated multi-media content • Adaptive context sensitive intelligent delivery Beyond hypertext
Main features: • Real-time expert system for adaptive, context sensitive course sequence based on user generated or external events, scripts, time • Dynamically generated MM content through: • Interactive simulation models • CBR based on pre-computed complex (CFD) simulation results • Embedded feddback, tests, evaluation, log • MM content management and through dedicated server (DocCentre)
Project Status: completed 100% of time, 110% of resources expended • All Milestones completed • All 31 Deliverables submitted (includes a few extras) • All 25 Reports (MR, PPR, AR) submitted Continuing Activities on: • Continuing work with end users and potential clients, test cases, demos, evaluation of user feedback • Continuing model development (SLAB, POM) • Marketing, new proposals
WP 05: System Framework: Was already presented with emphasis on AI components (RTXPS real time rule-based expert system), architecture and integration at Lisbon Review; WP 06: System Architecture and Integration Summary reports (on-line versions of D05, D06) have been submitted Extensive on-line (web) documentation and user manual was added (continuing development) for remote users/developers
Implementation: • RTXPS server with remote • DocCentre, CBR server, UMDS server Support tools(development and evaluation) • Course structure editor • Function template editor • Test/questionnaire editor • KB display, Dynamic log, Test log • Differential analysis
Implementation: Framework used in all case studies, demonstrating the scope and potential of the tools. WP 07,8,9,10,11: Case Studies Short Summary will be presented for: • WP 07 UK DNV • WP08 Italy Syreco • WP09 Austria DCAG • WP10 Switzerland ASIT • WP11 Portugal Chiron
WP 12: Evaluation (CSALT) • Completed for all case study application • New development: Integrated tools, using the embedded tests and expert system itself for evaluation tasks; WP 13: Dissemination and exploitation Continuing activities with: • Web server: http://www.ess.co.at/A-TEAM • Scientific Publications, book project • Presentation to prospective users • Use for university teaching, continuing cooperation (e.g., ESS – DCAG)
Problems leading to delays: • Technical modifications as part of the prototyping approach leading to re-implementation and new tools, continuous changes based on user feedback (additional tools, e.g., 3 major course editor releases !) • Efforts for MM preparation (“good” course) underestimated, administrative problems, changing regulatory framework • Difficulties in working with real end users(no control over schedules)
