AP Aligned Course Credit • Features of the Alignment • Agreed upon number of credits at every institution for matching tests and scores • Number of credits is the same, the type of credit is not • If AP area does not match one offered at a college, credit may not be awarded • Next step- adding IB and potentially considering a “profile approach” (like the PASS assessment guidelines)

  5. How can you help? • Help us inform decision makers at your school • Let us know who to contact to inquire about interest • Talk to registrar/counselors about the importance of SSID (TESA number, CIM number, etc.)

  6. New Diploma- 3 kinds of requirements • Credits • Experiences • Proficiency in “Essential Skills”

  7. English- 4 Credits Meet content standards, including reading, writing, speaking and listening; may be met in applied and integrated courses aligned to standards Mathematics- 3 Credits Meet content standards including algebra levels 1 & 2, geometry, and statistics; may be met in applied and integrated courses aligned to standards Science- 3 Credits Meet content standards, including physical science, life science, and earth & space science; courses apply the principles of scientific inquiry and provide laboratory experiences; may be met in applied and integrated courses aligned to standards Social Sciences- 3 Credits Meet content standards including civics, government, economics, geography, and history; may be met in applied and integrated courses aligned to standards Physical Education- 1 Credit Meet content standards Health Education- 1 Credit Meet content standards Second Language/the Arts/Applied Arts-3 credits (1 credit) Other Electives- 6 Credits (8credits) New Diploma- Credits
