Pat-INFORMED Database Patent Information Initiative for Medicines (Pat-INFORMED) • Joint IFPMA and WIPO initiative announced at WIPO General Assembly (10/2017). • Aims to enhance the reputation of intellectual property as a foundation of global healthcare. • Welcomed by WHO, the Gates Foundation, the Medicines Patent Pool and many member states. • UCB and more than 20 other companies committed to make global patent information, similar to the US “Orange book”, on medicines available via Pat-INFORMED. • Initial database covers granted patents for small molecule products within oncology, hepatitis C, cardiovascular, HIV, diabetes, respiratory therapy areas, and any products on the WHO Essential Medicines List.
