Changes at DESE • Adopting CAS • -Core Academic Standards- • Includes CCSS Math, CCSS English Language Arts, Common standards in Science and Common Standards in Social Studies. • As a part of the adoption of math CCSS under the Missouri CAS, DESE will NOT add 15% more standards. They will implement CCSS as-is. • DESE has released sample CCSS units that can be used for ideas in implementing CCSS. These units are not curriculum documents. Our HS Common Core Team will be inspecting them in the months to come.
More DESE • After this school year, DESE will eliminate all non-CCSS problems from their testing banks. Those non-CCSS problems will not be used in testing after this school year. • DESE will not be involved in writing new problems for CCSS in the near future; they plan to utilize CCSS problems already in their problem banks in the years to come
