History of the Scholarship Program • was created in 1999 under the auspices of the Deputy Minister. • the initiative was in support of “La Relève”, as well as DND’s efforts to be a continuous-learning organization. • 73 scholarships have been granted. • in 2002/2003, it received funding as an on-going program

Binders and Evaluation Criteria • The binders • 122 applications grouped by: • occupational category (Scientific and Professional, Technical, Operational, Administrative and Foreign Service and Administrative Support) • designated group (Visible minorities, Aboriginal and Disability) • Consultant separated into eligible (green) and into not eligible (red).
Binders and Evaluation Criteria • Eligibility Criteria • indeterminate DND 1 year and PS 2 years • no prior long-term training or development program • field of study on a full-time basis that reflects their career development plan • apply to a recognized Canadian educational institution • demonstrate the minimum education requirements • minimum of two years “fully satisfactory” performance • meet language requirements of substantive position • approval by manager • have started the requested program or actively engaged in a relevant continuous learning process
