  2. The use of adjectives Issue 3. Appearances Qualifying adjectives help you describe nouns, giving you information about their characteristics. You usually use adjectives in its positive form: Examples: That student is very ............ tall Your sister is very ................ pretty The conference was extremely ............... interesting Pau Gasol is a very............. Basketball player. good

  3. Doing comparisons We often compare different objects, or people. In our comparisons we use a very simple structure, using adjectives. TALL ER than Magic J Pau Gasol is 2m20 1m84 One syllable adjective Magic Jerez + ER Pau Gasol

  4. Pretty Two syllable adjective, ending in -Y Heidi Heidi is pretty Penelope Cruz !!! PRETT i ER Penelope Cruz is than Heidi Two syllable adjective, ending in -Y + iER

  5. Most other Two syllable adjectives (not ending in –Y) Boring Maths is boring !!! English MORE + adjective With Alex Jerez !!! Maths English is Boring MORE than

  6. LONG ADJECTIVES: 3 or + syllable adjectives Beautiful, interesting ... Newspapers are interesting !!! Magazines MORE + adjective interesting Magazines are MORE than newspapers

  7. Some exceptions...!! Common, clever, gentle, hollow, unhappy.... MORE + adjective Adjective + suffix –ER/iER Spelling mistakes are more common than semantic errors. Spelling mistakes are commonER than semantic errors. Mr.Casanova is more gentle than Mr. Torrente. Mr.Casanova is gentlER than Mr. Torrente.

  8. IRREGULAR ADJECTIVES GOOD, BAD, FAR .... better More good, Gooder Jasmina sings better than Mary. worse bader, more bad Mary sings worse than Jasmina. further Pas de la Casa is further than Canillo.
