NALAS Overall Objective • NALAS Overall Objective: - to support exchange of experiences and information between associations of local and regional authorities of SEE, and - to disseminate and promote results of joint activities
NALAS medium-term objectives NALAS Strategic Plan defines 4 priorities: • Becoming the main Knowledge Center in SEE • Establishment of expert Task Forces • Fundraising, development and implementation of joint projects • Development of Communication Strategy
NALAS partners (1) In 2007, NALAS established cooperation with: • European organisations: • CLRAE (observer status) • EU Committee of the Regions (observer status) • CEMR (mutual associate membership)

2007 REPORT - ACHIEVEMENTS Defined the NALAS TF Products • Document the situation / problem inventory • Guidance for interacting with the Ministries • Produce policy arguments, policy papers • Comparative analysis on the chosen issues (national legislations, implementation in municipalities, best practices in the field, problems and obstacles still to be overcome) • Overview of the EU “legislation” and standards in the field. Possible strategies for reforms. Identify experiences from EU countries. • Capacity building activities for NALAS Member Associations

The guiding principles of the Secretariat: • Develop products which will be easy to use • All members should benefit from NALAS • All members have equal treatment and equal opportunities.
