Home Automation RIT Computer Engineering Senior Design Project Tom Booth, Martin Corraine, Mark Hogan Fall 2010 • Product Objectives • Secure web interface available to monitor and control home • Window and door security sensors • Remote lighting control that complements normal operation • XBMC-powered media center • Security alerts via email and/or text message • Secure wireless connectivity User Interface The web interface has three main pages for the user. Each one describes the state and/or gives the user control over that component in the home. Summary of costs The lighting control mechanism is designed to complement existing function in the home. With or without the added functionality of remote operation, the manual switch will continue to control the light. Overview of project operation This product solution combines remote media center operation, lighting control, and security sensor monitoring in a simple, easy to use solution.
