  4. Annual Members Meeting Programme: • Questions have been received from across the membership. Thank you for these questions. This has enabled us to amend some of our presentation or where appropriate answer a question directly following the appropriate section. • Should follow up questions be generated or clarification be required we respectively ask that these be retained until the end of the presentation.

  5. Off Course 2011 • Individual membership rates maintained • Net gain in membership numbers – bucking local and national trends • Preserved a strong competition and social menu • Positive and interactive meetings with officials • Continued to support/coordinate member ‘away trips’ (Forest of Arden) • 2011 Membership Satisfaction Survey – feedback received and directly used to impact areas of investment and focus • Increased levels of participation with more positive feedback • Highlighted friendly and consistent service through operation • Key playing surfaces (greens, tees fairways) ranked highly versus estate • Desire for value for money • Requested further improvements to areas of the course • Uplift to member honours boards • Improved current ‘practice’ provision • Invested in gym machinery

  6. Off Course 2012 Continuing to evaluate all aspects of our product and service provision and seeking every opportunity to improve club life where practicably possible: • Individual membership rates held • Partner, Intermediate and Junior rates reduced • Improved communication tools and online booking facilities • New buggy fleet and hire stocks • Range enhancements completed and machinery updated • Improve locker availability • Sports and Spikes – refurbishment and extension

  7. On Course 2011 • Extensive improvements to fairway and semi-rough drainage • 1x heavy sand application through growing season • Continued fairway feeding programme to improve turf quality • In-house programme of sand applications to walk on/walk off areas • Replaced key pieces of mowing equipment • Concentrated on health and consistency of playing surfaces – acknowledged improvement from an independently appointed agronomist and Member Satisfaction Survey results

  8. On Course 2012 Central to membership enjoyment is the presentation and quality of the golf course – great improvements were made during 2011 and efforts in this direction will continue with further planned attention and investment in 2012 • Continue fairway feeding programme • In-house improvements to high wear areas – pedestrian routes • Continue to Improve health and characteristics of all playing surfaces inline with independent agronomists suggestions • Purchase key course machinery items

  9. On Course 2012 Bunkers • Our key focus for course improvement • Works to commence Monday 16th July • Focus on green side bunkers • All green side bunkers to have sand replaced • Reshaping of bunkers on 4th, 5th and 16th • Reshaping of fairway bunkers • A 3 – 4 week installation • Impact to golf in particular high membership usage days will be avoided as much as is practicably possible

  10. United Utilities – West East Link Main • 2011 • Course snagging completed with course contractor/UU • Tree planting scheme completed – maintained under contract • Reinstatement works completed • Course to return to original layout May 2011 • 2012 • Play from original layout throughout season • Reinstatement works monitored and managed for effectiveness • Tree planting scheme maintained under contract • Pipe installation ‘guarantee’ to begin

  11. On Course 2012 Additional questions were received on specific points of maintenance. These will be discussed internally as they require further investigation and planning. Responses to these will be shared at the August committee meeting.

  12. Annual Members Meeting – Questions • What is going to be done to impact incidents of slow play? How can we raise its profile within the club? • Incidents of slow play have been noted and reported • Pace of play cards have been laminated for all members to receive and sign for • Etiquette cards highlighting hints and tips to help avoid slow play have been produced • Pace of play will be monitored over forthcoming weeks and months • Persistent offenders will be reviewed at committee level • Polite assistance is requested from the membership to assist in driving this courtesy • Increased marshal presence

  13. Annual Members Meeting – Questions • Are there any intentions to reward long serving members? • Marriott does not have a standard reward programme for long serving memberships. • The only ad hoc programme available is for members of 25 year standing plus at St. Pierre. • We will review any possible provisions or enhancements for the start of the 2013 membership year.

  14. Annual Members Meeting – Questions • Why are the rules governing members competitions not written down? • We are more than happy to facilitate the collation of a comprehensive competition rules listing to aid in understanding, application and consistency.

  15. Annual Members Meeting – Questions • Why is there a difference in service standards between membership and other users of the golf facility? • There is never any intention to treat individual members or the membership differently from other users other than to offer a more familiar service standard • The last wave of Membership Satisfaction Survey highlighted this as a strength with Worsley Park being at the top or near the top on these measures versus the estate • We will, however, continue to review our service standards and approach as we seek further improvements

  16. Annual Members Meeting – Questions • Why have dates for member events been altered in the diary? • The diary is set and made available at the start of the new season. • At all times the intention is to honour dates and venues selected. • When this is not possible based on factors as diverse as weather or room availability alternative venues may be sourced. • Another key consideration is for the selected venue to be conducive to the intended need – number of people in attendance etc.

  17. Annual Members Meeting – Questions • What if any are the plans for junior golf? • Junior membership rates were reduced 24% for the 2012 season (intermediate 17% reduction). • Our intermediate membership qualification age was increased along with a reduction in rate. • Marriott ‘kids golf for free’ programme allows for a junior to play, complimentary golf provided they are accompanied by a fee paying adult (or member) after 15.00 any day of the week.

  18. Annual Members Meeting – Questions • On what basis are members selected to play on the teams? • Competition teams are currentlyselected and ‘managed’ by the Vice Captain’s.

  19. Annual Members Meeting – Questions • Are there any plans to offer a ‘golf only’ membership? • 9 of the 11 Country Clubs within the group currently provide a Country Club membership structure rather than a ‘golf only’. • 1 of the golf only – Sprowston Manor – was inherited. • There are no plans currently here or within the group to change this stance.

  20. Annual Members Meeting – Questions • Are members entitled to play European Marriott golf course? • A reciprocal membership programme is in place across a wide variety of Marriott properties across the world • Generally (International) the member must be staying in the resort hotel to gain the privilege • Tee times must be booked in advance • A list of the clubs involved in the programme can be obtained on request

  21. Annual Members Meeting – Questions • Can you clarify the protocol on the usage of the practice areas? • We have benefitted from an uplift in the available facilities. • Use of the artificial tee will be limited to winter months or periods of inclement weather allowing ‘practice’ from turf as currently enjoyed. • Grass tee will then be maintained through winter without play allowing recovery. • Other planned enhancements are to the ball stop netting and the warm up net adjacent to the putting green.

  22. Food and Beverage - 2011 • Maintained number 1 guest satisfaction within Marriott UK – 5th year running • Utilised The Terrace when not in use to show live sports • Wine evening • Christmas Markets • Sports calendar with promotions • Ladies lunches • Support member competitions • Wine and Dine continues.

  23. Food and Beverage – 2012 The food and beverage team works extremely hard to refine and improve the offerings that they make available for you. In 2012 the team aims to: • Continue to support key member competitions – Pimms etc. • Free room hire for members continues - The Terrace • Double discount in school holidays' for members – take advantage. • Wine events for members – dates to be confirmed • Wine and Dine deal - The Dining Rooms. • Full refurbishment and extension to Sports and Spikes. Creation of a dedicated members area at key high peak times.

  24. Club finances etc. A review of the finances of Worsley Park Golf Club

  25. Your club… July 14th to August 9th will see the hotel play host to a large event. The golf course will be unaffected during this period but it will necessitate some changes off course: • Sports and Spikes will be moved to The Terrace whilst Sports and Spikes becomes the main hotel restaurant • There will be a noticeable increase in security around the estate • Golf clubs will need to be placed in the bag drop at the Country Club entrance – no clubs will be allowed on property • Thank you in advance for your anticipated support and understanding

  26. Thank you It would be remiss to not take this opportunity to express the thanks of the golf team and the wider team at Worsley Park for the continued efforts of your club officials and the general committee and indeed you the membership for your continued patronage. Continued best wishes for the 2012 season…
