And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” 1 John 5:14-15 • Key is to pray according to His will (Petitions, Intercession) • How do we know that we are praying according to His will?

  3. George Müller Hero of Faith and Prayer • Evangelist and Missionary born in Germany September 1805 • Began work with Orphans in Bristol, England, 1832 • 1875 began a 17 year period of Missionary travel • Died at age of 92 in 1989

First Step to Careful Prayer MUCH PRAYER • If you want answers to prayer, you have to actually spend time communing with God • “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you. Third Step to Careful Prayer SEARCH YOUR HEART • For sin issues that hinder answered prayer (“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” Isaiah 59:2) • To make sure that your desire is also His desire • To pray from a place of peace, not striving • To pray from a place of faith not fear

Fourth Step to Careful Prayer PATIENT WAITING TO KNOW THE MIND OF GOD • Don’t be too quick to launch into prayer or agree to pray for a situation without first consulting the Lord • Only pray those things that the Lord has laid on your heart after carefully ascertaining the will of God • Then you will pray the prayer of faith and not just the prayer of hope (1John 5:14-15)
