Welcome Try this problem: This is similar to a bellwork problem our students complete when we begin class each day.
Grading Scale A – 90 – 100B – 80 – 89C – 70 - 79D – 60 - 69F - 59 or below
How are students graded? Daily Grades- 25% of total grade • Homework- will be assigned most nights and will be checked for a weekly homework grade. Homework is vital to being successful in learning mathematics. • Quizzes - will be given on a regular basis. They will be short, made up of about ten questions. • Projects will count as 2 quiz grades. Ten points will be deducted for each day the project is turned in late. • Classwork- Any work completed in class that is graded. Student must keep up with notes and bellwork to be turned in
Grading system Test Grades- 75% of total grade • Tests will be given at the end of each chapter. • Students will be given a studyguide the day before each chapter test. • We will complete the review in class and work the problems together. • Exams are at the end of each semester, December 19th-20th, then on May 21st- 22nd. • Exams count as two test grades. • We will review the content covered a few days prior to the semester exam.
Attendance • Students are expected to attend class daily. Class time is valuable and instruction cannot be made up if it is missed. I encourage students to come to class everyday, if they are absent they are missing something in my class. Make-up work can only be done for excused absences.
Make-up Work • Students with excused absences must request make-up work upon arrival back to school then missed assignments must be turned in within 5 days of their return. • It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements with the instructor for any make-up work. • *No make-up work for UNEXCUSED absences.
Algebra I Curriculum • More challenging than ever, students must spend time outside of class preparing for Algebra class. • http://alex.state.al.us/standardAll.php?subject=MA2010&ccode=AL1&summary=3 • Since this is an advanced class student expectations are set at a higher level and students must be determined meet these expectations.
