Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 (FQPA) By Karlykenyon -The Food Quality Protection Act was passed by Congress in 1996 and has not been amended. -It is an amendment of other food safety acts. -This is a nationwide act, created and enforced by the EPA. They reassess thousands of existing pesticides.
The FQPA’s function To ensure that all pesticides used on food consumed in the United States meets stricter safety standards It also requires a complete reassessment of all existing pesticides. The FQPA emphasized the protection of children and infants in what they eat. Also, it provides for education on pesticide safety to stores and suggests warning labels to inform the consumers.
