Food Quality Act of 1996 Some main points of the act: -It requires a new safety standard –that must be applied to all pesticides used on food commodities. -Requires EPA to consider risks to infants and children when setting tolerances. -Mandates EPA to expedite approval of "reduced risk" pesticides -List pests of significant public health importance -Special consideration to pesticides with public health uses -Encourage the safe and necessary use of methods to combat and control pests of public health importance -Requires periodic review of pesticide registrations -Requires EPA to implement IPM Education, Research, and Demonstration programs . It effects the well-being of the population because it keeps massive amounts of harmful pesticides out of our food.

  3. Food Quality Protection Act The Food Quality Protection Act was passed by Congress, but the Agriculture Committee regulates and enforces the rules set by FQPA.
