This setting is important to the story because the house was used for the gangs hideout. Nobody thought anyone was there because the house was all locked up and the old owner was dead. The way the gang got into the house was by driving a boat into a secret passage way. The passage way lead inside the cliff where stairs led up to the house. There were hidden rooms along the stairs where the criminals hid their stolen goods. Old Pollitt's place or the house on the cliff
The Bayport Harbor is an important setting in the story because it is where the Hardy boys did a lot of their detective work. They were able to spy on the house on the cliff and see what boats and people went to the house. Also, they were able to find out where the secret passage way was located. Another important part of the harbor is that their friend Pretzel Pete worked there. He sold pretzels on the harbor and saw all the activity there. He was able to give the Hardy boys information on criminal activity. Bayport harbor
A friend of the Hardy's Tony Prito drove them around the bay on his boat. This was important because this is how they got from the harbor to the house on the cliff and it help them to better find the secret passage way. In a boat On the bay
