  1. What I Call Life By: Jill Wolfson Published:2005 Fiction Ms.Brown’s-6th period Renee N. .

  2. SETTING • The 1st setting is important for the problem to take place well any way it’s the library in the small hometown, and the main setting through out the whole story was “the pumpkin house”( which is Home For Girls.) If their was no library the story wouldn’t even be existing, for “that’s the whole jumbo in the pot.” The Home For Girls was where she was put then again she did wander off with Whitney(the roommate wanting to find her sister.)

  3. CHARACTERS

  4. Conflict The main character named Cal. Got separated from her mother at the age of 11 yrs. and at the time she tries to figure out when/if her mom can ever survive/live, and get her from the nut-house called a home for girls. man vs. man and man vs. society.

  5. Summary of Plot Cal.s mom was sent to a mental hospital while cal. Herself was sent far far away from her mother at a home for girls. Cal. Tries to get things together/figure things out. Cal and Whitney(a girl from the orphanage) get in to a verbal fight. Cal. Demands a room change. Cal. Tries to be all “innocent”/good all the time so she can see her mother again. The mother of Cal.(Betty) is not figuring out that if she’s good she gets her daughter back, so she not at all trying. Whitney ran-away to find her sister that was adopted before her. Cal. Followed Whitney (with curiosity)with-out her knowing. They both finally realized she (Whitney’s sister) has the best child-hood ever and didn’t want to separate her from that.

  6. Theme • Very thing happens for a reason. • Text Evidence 1:Butcertain people didn’t like what she was doing in the library during her little episode, so they called the police. Pg. #3 Text Evidence 2: That had been my first time in a police car Pg. # 4 Text Evidence 3: Whiney ripped the picture away from my eyes and said “Well you know plenty about the word insane. I replied back with “What does that mean?” “I took a peek in your social-worker file and your mother is plenty of insane. She insanedall over the library!” I said nothing “Crazy "she said “C-R-A-Z-I-E” (I wanted to punch her badly but I forced myself not to) Pg. # 85

  7. Point of View • 1st person point of view, becuae if they didn’t you wouldn’t know what they were thinking you would problem have guess at what their thinking.

  8. symbolism Everyone is living her story. No matter how hard/easy life gets everyone's the same some how.

  9. Recommendation • You should recommend this to all your friends like I am to u (or better) but why I am recommending this to you because I really enjoyed the book and it teaches you a thing or to about life, and maybe not a great one and not a bad one.
